August 5, 2026
HARRISBURG – Two Elk County municipalities are each being awarded more than $100,000 in grant money through Pennsylvania’s Green Light-Go Program, according to Rep. Mike Armanini (R-Elk/Clearfield). The competitive grants will support critical improvements to traffic signal equipment in the City of St Marys and Ridgway Borough.
“These funds will help increase safety in frequently traveled areas for both drivers and pedestrians,” said Armanini. “Our community depends on a transportation system that keeps folks moving safely and efficiently, and these improvements will help relieve congestion, improve safety, and support better mobility and traffic flow.”
The funding for Ridgway and St Marys is targeted at specific trouble spots as follows:
Ridgway Borough - $100,120 to modernize the traffic signal infrastructure along Main Street at the intersections with Montmorenci Avenue/Gillis Avenue, Elk Avenue, Mill Avenue and
North Broad Street/South Broad Street.
City of St Marys: $100,800 for traffic signal modernization at the following intersections:
• Washington Street and 4th Street.
• South Saint Mary’s Street and State Street, Decker Chapel Road/Tractor Supply Driveway, Comfort Lane/St. Mary’s Area High School/Middle School Drive, Ford Road/Private Drive, Haller Road/Plaza Drive, Private Driveway/Vine Street, East Arch Street/West Arch Street.
• North Michael Street/Center Street/North Saint Mary’s Street/Washington Street.
The Green Light-Go Program provides state funding to municipalities for traffic signal improvements, including equipment upgrades, retiming, LED conversions, and technology enhancements aimed at improving mobility and safety.
